Question by : Will my orthodontic Lifetime Maximum start over with a new dental insurance provider?
My daughter had a retainer and our insurance carrier, Cigna covered $ 1500 of it. Now she needs braces and my husband’s company is changing dental providers to Guardian. Will that Lifetime Maximum start over with the new dental provider?

Not necessarily. If the employer had the previous insurance company forward the treatment records to the new insurance company, they may not provide a new lifetime maximum. If the employer has changed, then yes, you will have a new lifetime maximum.

Your best course of action will be to have the orthodontist office request a pre-treatment authorazation from the new insurance company.
