What kind of business insurance am I going to need?
Question by Rachel: What kind of business insurance am I going to need?
I’m in the process of getting an estimate of how much a future business venture is going to cost. I’ve figured out pretty much everything except insurance. My business is an automated kiosk business and each kiosk costs about $ 50K with the merchandise inside and I’m starting out with 3. I’m wondering what kind of insurance I need and how much it would cost. I want to insure my merchandise and machines, but as I’ll be the only employee do I need anything beyond that?

In addition to covering your kiosks and inventory you will, without a doubt, need general liability as well as products liability insurance. As these kiosks are probably going to be situated on the premises of other businesses they will require you to carry liability insurance and they will be asking to be named as additional insureds.
If you are dealing with placement in a mall the mall operator will probably be requesting that you have limits of liability between $ 1,000,000 and $ 3,000,000.
