Why should private insurance companies have to compete with a public plan?

Posted by in Monday, March 26th 2012

Question by : Why should private insurance companies have to compete with a public plan?
It’s unfair. That’s what they make insurance companies do in countries like Europe. The Australian private insurers are stuck having public option cutting into their profits. Why do the Obammunists want that here? We are not Australia. We are free! Private schools could make a lot more money if there were no public option in schooling. This is not healthy for capitalism!

If Uncle Sam makes all the rules then be assured that the result is not fair competition.

I don’t know where you live but in my area there are no private schools whose purpose is to maximize profit. They mostly exist because the public schools need improvement.

Retirement Savings Rule 2: Plan for Your Future Goals and Needs

Posted by in Friday, March 23rd 2012

This is the VOA Special English Economics Report, from voaspecialenglish.com | http Last week, we discussed limiting investment risk in retirement planning. So what are financial planners advising people to invest in? Stocks and bonds are the best known investments and are important to any savings plan. Instruments like savings accounts and certificates of deposit pay a small rate of interest. They carry little risk. Annuities are another savings instrument with low risk. Financial planner Pete D’Arruda says “Worldwide, people can put their money in annuities, which are basically savings accounts offered by insurance companies.” But he says it is important to make a decision about an annuity with a good financial planner. He warns that annuity agreements can be complex, and many bad ones are out there. Pete D’Arruda says good planning means placing money into financial securities and accounts that have different risk levels, using asset allocation. “So true asset allocation is having some in stocks, some in bonds, some in mutual funds, but then some in other places with guaranteed income and then safety and liquidity kind of accounts for emergencies.” This method of savings follows the old saying you should not “put all your eggs in one basket.” But that is not for everyone. Sande Taylor is with the investment company Charles Schwab in south Florida. She advises investors every day. She says many investors have a personal style. There are conservative investors. “A

Q&A: When should I add my new baby to my dental insurance plan?

Posted by in Monday, March 19th 2012

Question by jen: When should I add my new baby to my dental insurance plan?
I add her to my health insurance within 30 days of her birth. (She’s due September 2nd).
The next “open enrollment” (when I can add her to dental) will be January 2009. Should I add her then, since that will cover the year she turns one, or wait till the following January?
I guess my main question is: I don’t need to add her to dental when she’s born, like I do for health, right?

Best answer:

Answer by Alyssa’s mommy
Babies generally don’t go to the dentist before age 2. If it is just a couple dollars a month you could add her at birth, otherwise wait till Jan 2010 or 2011…

Question by u2fan94521: What is the cheapest individual health insurance plan in California?
I am young and healthy and need a health insurance plan for myself. Essentially, I just need health insurance in case of a freak accident that will land me in a hospital. Any suggestions? The cheapest so far has been $ 51 a month. I don’t care about deductibles or any of that. Just that it has the lowest monthly fee. Thanks!

Question by Wiparat W: Can I use a new dental insurance with started orthodontic plan?
I have started my brace with an orthodontic with an insurance company. A year later, I changed job and get a new dental insurance. I wonder if i can use a new dental plan with this orthodontic. Any suggestion would be appreciated. Thank you in advance, everyone.

Answer by mbrcatz
The benefits for orthodontics don’t reset, with the new carrier – those benefits are LIFETIME maximums. If you haven’t exceeded the lifetime maximum under the new policy, while you were under the old policy, you can file the claim for the difference.
