Q&A: How to have inexpensive dental work done w/o insurance!?

Posted by in Monday, March 19th 2012

Question by Emma: How to have inexpensive dental work done w/o insurance!?
I’m in college, my parents are about as broke as I am, and we no longer have medical or dental insurance. I am currently unemployed due to a layoff, and didn’t have those benefits anyway. My wisdom teeth are definitely starting to emerge, and I feel as if any day now they’re gonna pop up and I won’t have the $ 500 per tooth to take care of this. Please, if anyone knows of resources in Orlando, I’ll love you forever.

There should be a dental school somewhere in town. I would check out the phone book.

Q&A: Dental insurance and Lumineers for teeth. Is there ever a way for insurance to pay?

Posted by in Monday, March 19th 2012

Question by Aster: Dental insurance and Lumineers for teeth. Is there ever a way for insurance to pay?
I don’t currently have insurance, but the job I’m hoping to get is said to have fantastic insurance. Is there ever a way to have Lumineers paid, in part or full, by dental insurance?

If not, how much does it cost per tooth? How many are usually needed for a person with straight teeth…I was thinking 4 top and 4 bottom? Or more?

In rare cases it wouldn’t be the dental insurance that would pay for this but your major medical if for some reason there was an accident. Sorry but I do not have any idea on cost.

Q&A: When should I add my new baby to my dental insurance plan?

Posted by in Monday, March 19th 2012

Question by jen: When should I add my new baby to my dental insurance plan?
I add her to my health insurance within 30 days of her birth. (She’s due September 2nd).
The next “open enrollment” (when I can add her to dental) will be January 2009. Should I add her then, since that will cover the year she turns one, or wait till the following January?
I guess my main question is: I don’t need to add her to dental when she’s born, like I do for health, right?

Best answer:

Answer by Alyssa’s mommy
Babies generally don’t go to the dentist before age 2. If it is just a couple dollars a month you could add her at birth, otherwise wait till Jan 2010 or 2011…

Q&A: Is there a way to get a dental procedure covered by medical insurance rather than dental?

Posted by in Sunday, March 18th 2012

Question by Apple: Is there a way to get a dental procedure covered by medical insurance rather than dental?
I have alot of dental problems, i need 15 crowns on the top alone just basic bad tooth enamel. Its not from brushing or flossing since i do that daily. I have dental insurance but not as good as my medical. So is there a way to get it submitted through medical.
I don’t have delta dental in my state though. And the dentist i go to requires it paid at the time of service.

Unless they are working on your jaw or sinus cavities and such, then medical insurance does cover that…as for your teeth, you need to get dental like Delta Dental to cover all those crowns. Even then, they may not cover that many. You basically need your teeth capped and sometimes thats considered a cosmetic process. See if your dentist will work with you to get this covered.

What affordable dental insurance covers ortho? Can you suggest any?

Posted by in Sunday, March 18th 2012

Question by dazed and confused: What affordable dental insurance covers ortho? Can you suggest any?
I am looking for affordable dental insurance that covers ortho. I’m 29 yrs old and interested in getting one. I do have dental insurance – HMO, (BLue Cross) does this cover ortho?

Answer by irish girl
Dental insurance has to be based on what your monthly premium is VS what your annual maximum is. Every dental insurance has a maximum they will pay. If your annual premium is 300.00 and your annual maximum is 1000.00 your really only getting 700.00. I’ve been in the field for 27 years and most insurance does not cover ortho or it is very limited. Stay away from the discount plans and HMO’s in dentistry because you get what you pay for. Ortho is not only about making the teeth strait but the bite must be addressed when moving teeth. If not done correctly you can have grinding/clenching problems that eventually lead to joint problems. Some of the states that have Delta Dental have individual policies you can purchase with the above limits. Hope this helps.

what is a really good health insurance and dental insurance?

Posted by in Saturday, March 17th 2012

Question by Maria: what is a really good health insurance and dental insurance?
I have been shopping for insurance for a few weeks now and would like some second opinions. What health and dental insuranc edo you have and do you like it?

Best answer:

Answer by Elise
It all depends on your age and if a portion of your premium is being covered by your employer. If you have to pay it all, then Kaiser is the cheapest, but is only available in some states. Then the rest are pretty much the same, Blue Cross, Blue Shield, Aetna, Western Health, Pacific Care, etc…

The other difference is if you want a PPO or an HMO. A PPO tends to be more expensive and you would pay a percentage of each visit this is called co-insurance (usually 20%) along with an annual deductible. However, with the PPO you don’t have to go to your “home” doctor to get a referral for a specialist like on OBGYN.

The HMO is generally cheaper, no deductible and you make co-payments, not co-insurance.

I have and EPO through Aetna witch is an HMO and I like it alot.

Hope this helps!

I would encourage you to visit this website: www.healthsavings.ourperfectcard.com I signed up online over 5 years ago now and they have saved me thousands of dollars throughout the years from cleanings, fillings, xrays, exams…etc. All services are included in this very affordable plan. They even had my benefits active in 2 hours and was able to use it the very same day. Good luck and check them out.
