Does anyone know of Good coverage/ reasonable priced home owners insurance?

Posted by in Friday, April 20th 2012

Question by aquariusgurl: Does anyone know of Good coverage/ reasonable priced home owners insurance?
I have tried AAA and their quote seemed outrageous. Is there an insurance company that you know of that offers good coverage at a reasonable price? I am also looking to switch my auto insurance.

It would be for a home in Michigan.
What is an independent insurance broker? how do I get in touch with one?

Q&A: How much home insurance coverage should I get for the dwelling?

Posted by in Sunday, April 15th 2012

Question by : How much home insurance coverage should I get for the dwelling?
Buying a house and the bank wants to see an insurance policy purchased up front, this is a little different than I remember the last time we bought a house as they took care of everything. My question is how much am I required to insure? The loan amount will be for around $ 300,000 but it’s a standard ranch style house about 2200 square feet, nothing special about it. The insurance company says it doesn’t need to be for the exact loan amount. About how much would it cost to build a new house if a meteor crashed into it?

Best answer:

Answer by car253
The insurance agent should be doing some work to help you figure out what the cost of rebuilding the home is. It would just be an estimate and its up to you to pick the coverage, but the agent should be advising you. And, you do not need the insurance until your ready to close.

Call and ask escrow. Escrow is the place that needs the insurance info and NOT the bank. Escrow will give the bank the insurance info when they are suppose to get it. Tell the bank to get the insurance info from escrow and not from you. And, have your insurance agent call escrow to give them the insurance info and what they need.

Is home insurance dwelling coverage the amount they will actually rebuild?

Posted by in Thursday, April 12th 2012

Question by riversends: Is home insurance dwelling coverage the amount they will actually rebuild?
Assume my home insurance policy has $ 200,000 dwelling coverage, but my home is only worth $ 130,000. If my home burns down, will they rebuild up to a $ 200,000 home or only replace what my home was?

For example, if my current home only has 1 garage stall, would they build my new home with 2 garage stalls?

Best answer:

Answer by Lady Macbeth
They will only replace what your home is actually worth. It doesnt matter how much you had it covered for. If you insure it for under the amount it is actually worth, you will only recieve the amount that you insured it for. Its important to habe the exact property value, or atleast round it to the next thousandth. You should reevaluate the value every year because of inflation

Does Metlife’s Coverage A Plus home insurance really work?

Posted by in Wednesday, April 11th 2012

Question by MisterJay: Does Metlife’s Coverage A Plus home insurance really work?
I got a home insurance quote from Metlife that seems too good to be true. They are the cheapest and claim they will pay out actual replacement cost, even if that cost exceeds my policy limits. The dwelling coverage offered is half of what others offer, but the agent says I shouldn’t worry since ‘Coverage A Plus’ effectively has no limits. This is unique in the market as far as I can tell. Does anyone have experience if they indeed come through on this commitment?

Best answer:

Answer by Ginger
There are always limits. As for a copy of the actual policy booklet, not the quote.

State Farm offers something very similiar. In many states you can purchase limited replacement cost coverage with an option for increased dwelling coverage. In essence, you’ll get up to 20% more than the dwelling coverage at the time of a total loss, as long as you carried 100% replacement value.

I have never seen a policy that offers no limits. That would be impossible to price for.

I just got my Licenses and Im using my Parents car They have full coverage. So anyone that drives the car is insured.Do i need to get insurance?I plan on getting my own Car in another year or so.I do plan to get Insurance but for now am i covered?

If you live in the household, you need to be listed on their policy. What will happen if you have an accident is that the insurance will pay, but usually drops the policy, or it skyrockets b/c a driver was not listed.

How would an insurance company stay in business if there was no limit to its coverage?

Posted by in Saturday, March 17th 2012

Question by eagle: How would an insurance company stay in business if there was no limit to its coverage?
An insurance policy with not limits to its coverage would bankrupt a company and no one would have insurance.

Last night, Obama said there would be no limits on health care coverage.

Obama is running a charity, not a business.
