@videoguy604
I’m with you. I’ll be moving to Vermont too.

videoguy604 Said:

@fifigirlM America sucks!

fifigirlM Said:

@videoguy604 Yes! And outcomes are actually better with many surgeries and procedures than in the U.S. This may or may not have something to do with Canadians patients having less stress on them. Imagine going through a life saving surgery costing $60-70,000 and then laying in the hospital bed worrying about how you will ever be able to pay for it. Most people can’t pay for it and many end up losing their homes and property or at least having liens against them.

fifigirlM Said:

@hailtothejedi Me too! Maybe Vermont will be to the U.S. what Saskatchewan was to Canada!

fifigirlM Said:

@CDubSD No it isn’t. If you have a heart attack in Canada and need bypass surgery, you will get it immediately and outcome are actually BETTER in Canada than in the U.S. If you need the same surgery in the U.S. and have no insurance the health care provider can get a judgement against you if you can’t pay the bill. They may end up with everything you worked for your entire life. People buy extra insurance in Canada because of elective surgeries, which you may wait for. But you won’t die.

That’s 1 of the prime reasons the premiums of
everyone else are rising so fast. As a result, more &
more employers drop employer-provided health
insurance, thus more & more employees start getting
their health care through emergency rooms,& a large
percent don’t pay all their bills, thus hospital shortfalls
rise, then they pass it on to insurers, who in turn raise
premiums on all other policyholders,& the cycle keeps
spiraling downward. The U.S. is on a course to ruin if
we don’t change!

LoneTinaja Said:

Opponents of universal health care live in a fantasy
world in their minds when they think they aren’t paying
big time for all the people who don’t have insurance.
Already about 1/3 of all Americans get their medical
care through emergency rooms where costs are about
5 times higher than through primary doctors,& about
$90 billion per year is not collected from the patients.
The hospitals in turn charge higher fees to the insurance
companies to make up the shortfall.Comment continues.

LoneTinaja Said:

Over the decades U.S. spending on health care has
soared to 18% of GDP per year & is projected to rise
to a mindboggling 25% by 2025 if our present system
is not fundamentally reformed. All other industrialized
nations have universal health care & they spend an
average of 9.5% of GDP on health care( 8.5% difference).
The 2011 U.S. GDP will be about $15 trillion, thus we
have about a $1.27 trillion inefficiency per year the other
nations don’t have. Comment continues

It makes me happy that Vermont is aiming for a strong progressive agenda.

videoguy604 Said:

@CDubSD In Canada healthcare is 50% cheaper and the people live longer.

CDubSD Said:

@cne08: Your statement is completely false. The “bad US healthcare system” libel comes from a factually inaccurate CBO report. Many canadian people go buy their own healthcare because the universal healthcare is subpar. Single payer healthcare is federally unconstitutional and so is Obamacare.

CDubSD Said:

@videoguy604: Good, go pay 70% of your income for the problems of other people.

Dirtboyzrule Said:

I live in Rhode Island and if Vermont gets single payer I’m moving.

cne08 Said:

@ecwaufisxtreme.You’re incapable of telling the truth. Single Payer healthcare is better than what you have in America right now. Universal HC which we have in Canada is even more better than what you have in America right now. America has one of the WORST HC systems in the world while Canada has one of the best.

DumpVid Said:

@ecwaufisxtreme Your mind is filled with corporatist propaganda brought to you by right wing puppies who pretend to be on your site. I live in a country where we have single payer and up here no one’s dying or going bakcrupt. Insurance is forced to cover you, fees are compared to your cost generally low (for every 1000 dollars of income, I pay 200 dollars to cover up the whole family!). America has one of the worst and costly systems for middle or low income people. Period.

ecwaufisxtreme Said:

Bernie Sanders is TRULY Sarah Palin’s DICKLESS and BALLESS BITCH and PUSSY! Palin is VASTLY SUPERIOR to Sanders in every single way. There WILL BE NO SINGLE PAYER in the Palination whatsoever for it is COMMUNIST and SOCIALIST! Govt has NO PLACE whatsoever in healthcare and President Palin will keep those two entities completely separate from each other! America has the GREATEST system in the world right now and there is NO NEED for any reform whatsoever!

videoguy604 Said:

@cano21 Waiting for treatment sure beats being denied any coverage at all by a HMO deathpanel.

cano21 Said:

@videoguy604 You might want to take a fold out chair if you’re planning on going in for a Dr visit.

GodAthie Said:

… you know the health care bill will be ruled as unconstitutional unless the supreme court becomes activist. and when it is finally ruled as unconstitutional the entire will have to be repealed so whether or not republican repeal health care reform is not important because the courts will rule it unconstitutional

StepUPNJ Said:

Bernie Sanders …the statist’s statist.

paracletelux Said:

@videoguy604 : Ditto. It’s gorgeous and green, and progressive. Single payer would be the icing on the cake.

inademv Said:

@Timzero4 You’ve made enough of a fool of yourself. Thanks for saving me the effort.

MYBEEFIZSTRONG Said:
