Question by : How much will health insurance take out from hospital bill?
I just got out of the hospital and my bill is reprtedly around $ 2400 US dollars. WITHOUT HEALTH INSURANCE. Now the thing I do have health insurance I just havn’t given it to them yet.

How much would health insurance exactly take out? I have Blue Cross and it covers my family. My family has NEVER gotten into injuries so this would be one of the few ones we will ever have. Thanks. And also we have been paying them for many many years.

There is something very strange about somebody who would go into the hospital without giving their insurance information. This is the first question that medical providers ask. What did you tell them?

To answer your question – nobody here will know because nobody here knows which of the hundreds of different Blue Cross plans you have. In general, having the insurance will result in the hospital repricing the charges so you can subtract 30 – 50% which would put the bill at $ 1200 to $ 1500. You will then subtract your deductible if it has not yet been met this year. You will then multiply the result by your co-insurance.
