Question by chidordon: I believe my grandpa was tricked into buying an Accident Life Insurance Policy. Is there anything we can do?
My grandpa died from cancer. He believed he was leaving our family with enough money from the life insurance policy to be able to pay off our home. We were suprised to find out he has Accidental Life Insurance when we tried to make the death claim, and that we would receive nothing. We believe he was tricked into purchasing this less expensive policy. Is there anything we can do?

Locate the policy and read through it. If you believe that he was tricked you can consult with an attorney. This might be difficult to prove without witnesses to his insurance purchase other than the agent.

Air Crash Investigation - Fight for Your Life (S03E04)

FedEx Flight 705 was a McDonnell Douglas DC-10-30 ferrying electronics to San Jose, California, United States, that experienced an attempted hijacking for the purpose of a suicide attack on April 7, 1994. On that day, Auburn Calloway, a FedEx employee facing possible dismissal for lying about his previous flying experience, boarded the scheduled flight with several concealed hammers and a speargun. His plan was to disable the aircraft’s cockpit voice recorder before take-off and once airborne he intended to kill the crew using blunt force so their injuries would appear consistent with an accident rather than a hijacking. After taking control he then planned to intentionally crash the aircraft into Federal Express’ Memphis headquarters. Ultimately Calloway’s goal was to maximize damage to his employer whilst appearing to be killed in an accident while still an employee, making his family eligible for a .5 million life insurance policy paid by Federal Express. Calloway’s plan was unsuccessful. The crew was able to fight back despite severe wounds, subdue him, and safely land the aircraft. An attempt at a mental health defense was unsuccessful and he was subsequently convicted of multiple charges including attempted murder, attempted air piracy, and interference with flight crew members receiving two consecutive life sentences. Calloway’s appeal was successful in having his conviction for interference with flight crew members ruled as a lesser included offense of attempted

Basiago, Greg Hunter Economy & Geopolitics: In the first half of Thursday’s show, investigative reporter Greg Hunter offered analysis of the current economic and geopolitical situation. “I think we’re headed for another crash” that could be worse than the one in 2008, based on factors such as the European debt crisis, he said. Like the US, Europe also has a huge problem with real estate values collapsing, and he foresees bank failures coming there. In America, with the Federal Reserve, we “outsourced our monetary policy to a bunch of private bankers,” who avoid being audited, and have bailed out the upper echelon while ignoring most everyone else, he said. Buying precious metals is a good insurance policy against a coming currency crisis, Hunter continued. Hunter believes within the next year and a half we’ll see a war between Israel and Iran, and the US and Europe will get dragged into it. China, and possibly Russia would be on Iran’s side, because they are big trading partners, he noted. Iran may have already smuggled in nukes from North Korea or Pakistan, he added. Mars Visitations: Part of DARPA’s Project Pegasus as a young child and now a practicing attorney, Andrew D. Basiago claims to be one of America’s early time-space explorers. Appearing in the latter half of the show, he discussed his involvement with the CIA’s Mars visitation program in 1980. The program, he said, was started in the 1970s, and transported people from a “jump room

Q&A: How to get another copy of a life insurance policy?

Posted by in Tuesday, March 06th 2012

Question by : How to get another copy of a life insurance policy?
My grandmother purchased a life insurance policy for on her w/me as the beneficiary many years ago and has misplaced the policy. The bigger issue is she doesn’t remember the name of the insurance company she purchased it from. She knows it was based in Florida but nothing else. Is there any way we may be able to locate the company and get another copy of the policy?

Best answer:

Answer by Casey Y
My first and quick though, she should be receiving bills for the policy. If she is not receiving bills, she either let the policy lapse or already paid it in full. If she already paid it in full, she should receive something annually to let her know the cash value (assuming we are referring to whole life). It may also be a term policy that has now simply expired.

Can you try and locate the agent who sold the policy? In what state does your grandmother live?

How can I find a life insurance policy someone held?

Posted by in Tuesday, March 06th 2012

Question by Vivian: How can I find a life insurance policy someone held?
My brother recently passed away. I found a life insurance policy that was one month old and worth nothing. I keep finding money order receipts that say”Life Insurance” that are dated way before the one I found but I cannot locate any paperwork. Is there any way to find out if he did have another insurance. I am stuck with the burial costs and can’t afford to pay them. Thanks for your help.

You will have to become legal executor or administrator of his estate, through a court, in order to get the authority to search any further.

Also, if he named someone besides you as beneficiary, you’re STILL stuck with the burial costs.

Q&A: How much cash value does our Life Insurance policy have?

Posted by in Tuesday, March 06th 2012

Question by : How much cash value does our Life Insurance policy have?
We have had our Permanent Life insurance policy for a year now. It is a policy for $ 25,000. Our monthly premium is $ 25.14 a month and we have paid that for 12 months now? How much cash value do you think we have invested in it? We are in a desperate financial need right now, and need to borrow some money from our policy.

Best answer:

Answer by cainvest1
Near zero. At the beginning of a policy most of it is agent’s commissions. You don’t build any cash value until much later in the policy.

How Much interest does a life insurance policy accumulate?

Posted by in Monday, March 05th 2012

Question by Mrs. Bromley: How Much interest does a life insurance policy accumulate?
My aunt died recently, and she had a life insurance policy no one knew about, and my mom is the beneficiary. She wanted me to find out how much interest can be accumulated from a general policy. It was never updated, and it was just sitting there gaining interest since the 1960′s. The original amount was $ 500. Does anyone have an estimate of how much it could be worth now? My mom told me if i found out, and helped her, she would give me some money :)

Best answer:

Answer by Scott K
$ 5200-$ 500=$ 4700 interest (5% compounded annually for 48 years; it’s likely more than that because the rates used to be a lot higher than they are now.
