Q&A: What are the different types of life insurance? What are the pros and cons of both?

Posted by in Wednesday, February 29th 2012

Question by 2012 will be a great year: What are the different types of life insurance? What are the pros and cons of both?
Which life insurance companies do you recommend? How young is too young for your child? He’s 1… I’d like to leave my family with the security and without the stress of “money” when I die, but I don’t know where to start. Thank you in advance!

Well, there’s term life, and whole life. Term life has alot of restrictions and is more expensive the older you get. Whole life can be paid in full and borrowed against, and the younger you are the more coverage you can get. As far as your child, I heard about Gerbers putting out a whole life program for kids under 12 on Cartoon Network watch it they play the commercial alot. Hope this helps.

What is the life of an insurance saleman like?

Posted by in Tuesday, February 28th 2012

Question by have fun: What is the life of an insurance saleman like?
I wanted to join a “company” World Finance Group, part of AEGON. They say they will train me about life insurance and difference securities and how to recruit more employees and customers. So far the membership fees and background check is $ 100 ! They dont want to reveal how much of this100 goes to membership and how much goes to background check! So far I understand that they customer that I would have would be the people I know. I will use their offices at “any local representatives”, I will have to services the accounts of my customers, have them to choose the right investment, mostly life insurrance. Sound an interesting job. I learn business anyway. BUT this whole thing looks more like a scamp or not suitable for me at all! Pay for a membership and then go out and look for customer on my own. They dont reveal to me the average income of their employees, they dont really revea to me how much time and effort one should pay, and whether they would get any customer at all!
by the way the website is WorldFinanceGroup.com

I have never heard of them and they aren’t on the Aegon website. As far as paying money up front and having to find your own clients, that sounds normal and that’s why so many don’t make it.

What is a life settlement for a life insurance policy?

Posted by in Tuesday, February 28th 2012

Question by Donald: What is a life settlement for a life insurance policy?
My parents are in their eighties, and I was told that they could sell their life insurance policies via something called a “life settlement.” Could anyone fill me in on what that is, without trying to solicit my business? Thank you.

Best answer:

Answer by dusty_titus
There are buyers galore – Your parents turn in their life insurance policies which pay upon death, and get a percentage of the value right now and when they die, the company that buys their “life settlement” gets the whole amount. Its a way for people to cash in their policies for ready money, rather than letting the named beneficiaries collect upon death. Your parents would only get about 25% of the total value of their policies, and you’d be out! They should perhaps check into “borrowing some money on their life insurance policies” from the Insurance company, benefits are paid upon death, but less the borrowed amount. Google “Life Settlement companies” for websites. Read their proposals very carefully.
